Discovery part 8The sun rose, and as the men slowly gained consciousness, the girls went on their way. The father they traveled, the denser the trees got, and soon the sky was completely hidden by the green tree tops above. The roots were wild and huge, running through the forest floor like a maze. Exotic birds whistled from their hidden nests, and Abby stayed close to Tasha's side as the shadows grew longer and the sun set on another day. The girl's pace slowed drastically, and soon they had stopped completely in an open spot, starting a small campfire. The smoke rose slowly and floated through the trees and on to the starry sky. Discovery part 7Abby and Tasha made their way through the dark wood with little difficulty, maneuvering through the tangled branches and criss-crossing roots. They occasionally referred to the map to adjust their course, but for the most part, they did fine. The two spoke as they walked: of the local gossip, their difficult lessons, and of various boys. They did not once, however, speak of their near future responsibilities and duties.Discovery part 7
Abby and Tasha continued traveling in this fashion for hours before their surroundings got less and less familiar, and eventually, they were lost. Tasha, in the lead, was first to notice this. She abruptly stopped, and
Discovery Part 6Abby rushed about her bedroom trying to pack as quickly as possible. A distressed maidservant attempted to coerce her out of it as she continued to throw her garments into the small leather bag that rested on her bed. "Please, Princess, don't do this; tomorrow will be a busy day as your first day of being an official princess," said the maid. "I'm sorry Hanna, but that's exactly why I'm doing this," Abby replied, throwing her cloak about her shoulders. Just hours before, she had been celebrating her coronation, but now she almost resented it. The responsibilities and duties of princess loomed ahead of her, and tonight was her lastDiscovery Part 6
Discovery part 5Twenty minutes later, they were descending the grand staircase in the main hall. Abby was wearing a shimmering silver skirt, light as water, that fell just below her knee. Her top was silver too, close fitted with intricate swirling designs and thin silver chain straps. She wore stringy sandles that laced up around her ankles, loose flowing bracelets, dangling crystal earrings, and her delicate silver crown. Her tightly curled hair bounced with each step, white streaks visible at the nape of her neck and her temples. The lines that raced across her skin were now a robin egg's blue and seemed to be moving. Her arm was linked in TasDiscovery part 5
